There’s a saying I’ve lived by for quite some time now.
If you’re going to do something, you should either strive to do it well… or do it for the sheer pleasure of it (regardless of how well you do it).
Those two options make sense to me.
What doesn’t make sense to me is doing something poorly that doesn’t bring you joy.
If you love to sing, you’re terrible at it, but you enjoy it… go for it.
If you have to do your taxes, but you hate it, then you might as well do it well… so you don’t have to re-do it later to fix mistakes caused by doing it poorly.
Some things are fairly simple. This is one of them.
